ISO/IEC 9545:1994 - "Information technology - Open Systems Interconnection - Application Layer structure" refines and structures the Application Layer portion of the OSI Basic Reference Model (ITU‑T Rec. X.200 / ISO/IEC 7498‑1). The standard provides a formal framework for defining, composing and coordinating application-layer components so that application-layer recommendations and protocols can be developed in a coherent, modular and interoperable way.
