ISO 10519:2015 specifies a spectrometric method for the determination of the chlorophyll content of rapeseed. It is not applicable to the determination of chlorophyll in oils.
Abstract
Overview
EN ISO 10519:2015 - Rapeseed: Determination of chlorophyll content (spectrometric method) is a CEN-adopted ISO standard that specifies a laboratory spectrometric procedure to measure chlorophyll in whole rapeseed. Published in 2015, this third edition replaces earlier versions and is intended for routine quality control and analytical work on oilseeds. The method is not applicable to determining chlorophyll in oils.
Key topics and requirements
- Scope: Spectrometric determination of chlorophyll in rapeseed (not for oils).
- Principle: Extraction of chlorophyll from a weighed test portion into a specified solvent, followed by spectrophotometric measurement and baseline correction.
- Sample and test portion: Typical test portion is 2 g of ground rapeseed prepared from a representative laboratory sample (see ISO 542 and ISO 664 for sampling and sample reduction).
- Extraction: Add 30 mL of the extraction solvent to the test vessel; extract by shaking with steel balls (1 h manually or ~20 min in a commercial ball mill). Samples must have moisture
