Overview
ISO 22009:2023 - Space environment (natural and artificial) - Model of the Earth's magnetospheric magnetic field - defines requirements and a process-based framework for modelling the large-scale magnetic field produced by currents in the Earth's magnetosphere. The standard describes the principal magnetospheric current systems (magnetopause currents, tail current, ring and partial ring currents, and field-aligned currents), provides a working example model (the paraboloid model in Annex A), and establishes parameterization, testing datasets (Annex C) and conformity criteria for candidate models.
