The guidance describes a method for obtaining optimum conditions for Vaccinium myrtillus L., Vaccinium angustifolium Ait. and cultivated varieties of Vaccinium corymbosum L. It includes conditions of harvesting and putting into store, optimum parameters of the main procedures, and additives and other procedures of preservation. The limits of application are given in an annex A. An annex B shows cryptogamic disorders.

Gradual warming and light ventilation on removal to avoid surface condensation.

Additives and preservation

Modified atmospheres (higher CO2/N2 and lower O2) may be used to slow ripening and control rots.
