Abstract
Overview
ISO/IEC 9282-1:1988 - "Information processing - Coded representation of pictures - Part 1: Encoding principles for picture representation in a 7-bit or 8-bit environment" defines standard encoding principles and data structures for exchanging coded pictures. It specifies how picture primitives (opcodes and operands) are represented in a 7-bit base structure that can also be used in 8-bit environments. The standard focuses on the binary encoding (code tables, byte interpretation, operand formats and datatypes) and explicitly does define presentation semantics of pictures.
