Overview
EN ISO 3164:2013 - Earth-moving machinery - Laboratory evaluations of protective structures - Specifications for deflection-limiting volume (DLV). This CEN-adopted ISO standard defines the DLV geometry, placement and tolerances to be used when performing laboratory evaluations of operator protective structures (ROPS, TOPS, FOPS) for earth-moving machinery as defined in ISO 6165. It supports conformity assessment under the EU Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) for relevant essential safety requirements.

- Permitted rotation during testing:
- For ROPS/TOPS lateral or longitudinal loading the upper portion of the DLV may rotate up to 15°; the portion below the SIP remains fixed.
- If machine components interfere, rotation is limited to the interference angle.
- Scope notes:
- Machine controls normally positioned inside the DLV are not considered violations.
