Handling, packing and stacking

Use clean, dry pallets or separators - bags should not contact the floor directly; protect wooden pallets from splinters.
Avoid storing green coffee near chemicals, odorous materials or lower‑grade/contaminated coffee.
Protect bags from rain, splashes and re‑wetting during internal transport and at ports.

Lighting and operations

Minimize exposure to light (store in darkness where possible); use artificial lighting sparingly and only in aisles.
Restrict vehicle access to warehouses to prevent contamination and microclimate disruption.

Port and sea transport

Minimize time between packing and shipment; recommended delivery to port ≤ 72 hours.
Use clean, dry, preferably isothermal containers/holds; stack below deck in ventilated spaces and avoid proximity to heated/cooled zones.
Sample for moisture at loading and on arrival; inspect containers before loading.
