Overview

IEC 61892-1:2015 - "Mobile and fixed offshore units - Electrical installations - Part 1: General requirements and conditions" is the IEC international standard that sets general safety, design and environmental requirements for electrical installations on offshore petroleum units. It applies to mobile and fixed offshore units (including pipeline/pumping or “pigging” stations, compressor stations and exposed single buoy moorings) used for drilling, processing and storage. The standard covers AC systems up to 35 000 V and DC systems up to 1 500 V (nominal values). It does not apply to fixed medical equipment or to tankers.
