This document specifies two methods for the determination of the throwing power of electro-deposition coating materials. ISO 22553-2:2019 - Paints and varnishes - Electro-deposition coatings - Part 2: Throwing power - specifies laboratory methods for determining the ability of electro-deposition (e-coat) materials to deposit film into recessed areas and cavities. The standard defines two test procedures (Method A: single-chamber; Method B: multiple-chamber), measurement and evaluation steps, and related apparatus and specimen preparation. Throwing power is a critical performance attribute for automotive and general industrial e-coatings because it influences dry-film thickness in cavities and thus corrosion protection.
