Glue rigid plates centrally to specimens and allow adhesive to cure per manufacturer directions.

Test conditions:

Standard lab: (23 ± 2) °C and (50 ± 5) % RH.
Tropical conditions (if applicable): (27 ± 2) °C and (65 ± 5) % RH - must be noted in the report.
Loading: increase tensile load at (10 ± 1) mm/min until failure (alternative load-controlled speed advised for brittle substrates).

Calculation:

Tensile bond strength σ = F / A (F = tensile load at failure, A = plate area); results rounded to nearest 1 kPa.

Failure modes: Record whether failure is cohesive in adhesive/base coat, adhesive at interface, cohesive in insulation, or between base coat and reinforcement.

Reporting: Comprehensive test report content is specified (product ID, batch, preparation, conditioning, apparatus, all individual values and mean, mode of failure, etc.).
